Wordpress Theme Review: Arras Theme
by Zepht on Oct.19, 2009, under Design reviews, Portfolio

“Stylish”, if I could only use one word to describe this. As you can see clearly on this screenshot, Arras Theme looks like a very professional magazine/ entertainment news media. It looks somewhat like Gamespot.com, the website people go to for games of various platforms such as the PSP , PS3 and Nintendo DS. This theme looks inspiring for a corporate website, and awesome for a casual website. Cool.
This theme organises your newest posts in formats of boxes. Each box consist of a thumbnail, and 2 about 2 lines of written content. The top bar will randomly display your posts in a rotational manner. You can also click left and right on the top bar to choose what you will read. And it loads faster than Gamespot too!
The rest of your post is stacked neatly in a list below all the featured posts. The theme also comes with 2 secondary sidebars, 2 bottom bars, and a footer to hold your widgets. Using the right widgets with this theme will impress your readers and ,of course, yourself.
One of the main concern of users of Arras theme is: “how do I insert the pictures into the box?”.
Here’s from my personal experience, and i hope it works well for you too.
1. change permissions to 777, instead of the default 755. Do this first before we head to the admin page.
2.go to create a post.
3. insert picture. Here you will see list of things after you have selected your picture. click on file URL.
4.A URL will appear. copy it down somewhere on your desktop.go ahead and insert picture into post 1st but that’s not the end.
5.at where you are, creating a new post, scroll down to custom field.
6.you will see “Name” and “Value”. For the name, i write “thumb” as in “thumbnail”. For the “value”, insert the URL you had copied down.
7.click “add custom field” button
8.remember to publish or update post.
9.you are done. Go to site to see if it was successful.
The author has noted that pictures that are too big will not work, so be sure to head for the plugin main page if you encounter any problems.
Wordpress Theme Review: Pixel
by Zepht on Sep.17, 2009, under Design reviews
This theme is one of the most popular themes in wordpress, probably due to its highly professional look and nice dark colours.

This type of dark design, completed with appropriate widgets are best for professional, commercial websites. Companies seeking to have a corporate website, without the hassle and cost of fully-customised themes, should go for this type of theme.
Currently, Pixel has more than 6000 users, and its popularity is not falling low despite the advent of newer themes, making it an absolute classic. Try it! We have. You are looking at the result of a (heavily) modified Pixel theme. PHP and CSS truly have limitless possibilities.
Wordpress Theme Review: Suffusion
by Zepht on Sep.14, 2009, under Design reviews
Suffusion is a neat looking black theme for those who prefer dango over flowers. The words you type will be shown in white against a black background.

This theme is fine for a professional website of the wordy type. Its great for novels and essays, discussions of issues, expression of opinions and thoughts, and also poems. The greatness of wordpress is that it has a thousand themes for a thousand types of people.
A theme such as Suffusion is fully suitable to be a company website or company blog, since you would not want to convey an attitude that is too casual. This particular themes stands out because most websites have text written in black instead of white.
