Wordpress Theme Review: Tweetsheep
by Zepht on Oct.12, 2009, under Design reviews, Portfolio

Tweetsheep is a very nicely designed theme that is neat and pleasant. Both the top and the bottom of the page will show your website title, which is good for branding. The “featured post” widget is great for atttracting attention, and the rest of the theme is orderly and user-friendly. Its looks so pleasant that I’m considering to use this for a client’s website, as a sort of website that is in between casual and professioanal.
Special feature 1: It has a [read the full post] button at the end of every post. I personally find this very attractive. Not only is it convenient, it looks nice.
Special feature 2: The number of comments you have shows itself in a little white box to the right of your post. Nice, isn’t it?
Special feature 3: It is Twitter-compatitble. And the mascot of the theme holds a sign that reads “Follow Me”. And yes, you can click on it.
Just 3 special features, and it is a cut above some of the boring themes that Wordpress has a plenty. Remember, though, somebody took the trouble to create these themes.
Wordpress theme review special! Random Background
by Zepht on Oct.04, 2009, under Design reviews, Portfolio

I’m not sure about you guys, but this is one theme I’ve been looking for? Why? It lets you chooses your own pictures and insert it into the background. This is one of the most perfect themes for casual websites. Say, if you are a FF7 ( Final Fantasy 7) fan, you can use all FF7 images, or if you are a anime lover, you can use images of your favourite anime. And its very user-friendly–just drag the pictures you want into the “custom” folder, as simple as that!
There is a black background that is opaque, behind which you will see the images you chose. It looks amazing with white or other bright colur text, for they really stand out, especially if you try a red or cyan text. Blue looks striking too. The side bar looks neat if you are using 5 or less widgets. The yellowish-orange boulder that encompasses the perimeter is a showcase of the author’s sense of aesthetics. It looks really cool. Now, it will not be exciting unless you are already trying it, uploading your favourite images to the “custom” folder.
Now, for the cons. The width is smaller than what I hoped for, probably due to the author’s attention to the background images. In that case, word at the sidebar goes beyond the boundary of the width when they are long enough. And for those for you having problems with the random background, go to http://wordpress.org/support/topic/169209.
Wordpress Theme Review: Cloudclutter
by Zepht on Sep.09, 2009, under Design reviews
Cloudclutter has to be the most unique theme we have ever seen. For those of you familiar with WP Cumulus tag cloud, this theme just looks like a giant tag cloud, with widgets at the side.

The only flaw of this theme is : it is not suitable for a professional website.Other than that, Cloudclutter is clean looking, and also very fun to play with.
Advanced: the theme will display the titles as tags, but you can configure it to show the tags in the cloud. Personally, i think that is a lot more fun. For a example of a Cloudclutter-themed website, go to Freedom Above All.
